Season 3 Trailer

Talia Franks: Hello, and welcome to the Wibbly Wobbly Timey Wimey Podcast! I’m Talia Franks, media critic, fanfic enthusiast, and I am your co-host and executive producer here to give you a little sneak peek at the upcoming season three. I hope that you enjoy these little tidbits that we have sprinkled here for you. 

Talia Franks: We can’t wait for you to hear season three, which has been a long time coming, and you’ll hear my co-host, Lucia Kelly, expert at applied analysis and I talk to a plethora of wonderful guests, and we are so, so excited to share it with you.

Lark Malakai Grey: I mean, I just came in here with like my controversial opinions, so it makes sense. (Lark laughs) 

Talia Franks: No, we like controversial opinions.

Lucia Kelly: This whole podcast is controversial opinions. Like you can let them loose.

Talia Franks: Yeah. We we love controversial opinions. (Transition beep) 

Talia Franks: Also the fact that this episode is called Smith and Jones? We were talking before we started recording. That sounds like a shell company for the mafia. (Talia laughs) 

Lucia Kelly: It sure does. Mr. Smith can turn up and Ms. Jones can turn up, but not together. (Transition beep) 

Jessie Blount: out of all of the places they could have gone. It’s 1913 really? Where Martha has a cosplay as a servant.

Jessie Blount: It’s are you kidding me? (Transition beep) 

Lucia Kelly: And this is a problem with all of the companions but like it very much, it smells of women doing emotional labor for men, which I’m never a fan of 

Talia Franks: Yeah 

Lucia Kelly: this idea of you need someone, female, to look after you and make sure you don’t go too far is mm, the doctor can actually do that for himself actually.

Lucia Kelly: Yes, you need your support system. And yes. Your friends, your companions, your, everyone around you. Like, we are all always on a journey together with people and your input and like the conversations you have absolutely. They’re what help you, but you need to do the work yourself. And that’s not what Donna’s saying. Donna’s saying you need a warden. Like you need someone to make sure that you are not going over the edge. (Transition beep) 

Skye: His dismissal was wrapped up in a statement that so profoundly displays his white privilege, absolutely missing the point. Right? It’s like y’all said, of course you can act like you own the place, but the, the idea, like the literal idea of white supremacy and racism is that that is only afforded to white men, especially 

Talia Franks: Mm-hmm 

Skye: like a white, good looking man, walking around doing that. (Transition beep) 

Talia Franks: You’re blocking your blessings, Lucia. (Talia is clapping emphatically) You are blocking your blessings. (Lucia hiccups in laughter) (Transition beep) 

Amanda-Rae Prescott: Because it’s funny for a season that devalued Martha’s like emotional intelligence. Like she practically speaking, this episode, like she solves so much of what happened. So it is very interesting to see that cuz there are episodes where you have the devaluing and she’s also taking a backseat. So this one is weird in that sense too. (Transition beep) 

Lucia Kelly: Two teachers have been turned to dust, one’s gone straight up missing. The nurse. And all of the students are all convinced that scarecrows attacked them. (Talia chuckles) Like, there’s there, another student who knows how many students have gone missing or died in that whole interaction.

Lucia Kelly: Banes is definitely gone. The Cartwright girl is gone. The whole village is bombed by alien technology. (Talia laughs) Like what’s the clean up on that (Transition beep) situation? 

Talia Franks: I would never want to live forever. Living forever— 

Lucia Kelly: Never! 

Talia Franks: Sounds like the worst. 

Lucia Kelly: Never! 

Talia Franks: It honestly sounds like the worst 

Lucia Kelly: I have had this argu— like long, drawn out arguments about this with like multiple friends, because they were like, Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh. Just let me live my life and let me die. I don’t wanna be brought like as a cyborg. I don’t wanna be like put in the eternal stasis chamber. I don’t wanna have any consciousness past my death. Let me go. Oh my, that’s terrifying. That’s a terrifying concept. Why on earth would you want to live on earth more than more than you possibly have to? Ah, it freaks me out. (Transition beep) 

Skye: There needs to be multiple queer podcasts about Doctor Who, you know? Like there shouldn’t be just the one same with podcasts hosted by fans of color. There should be so many that we’re constantly referencing each other and we can host our own stuff and collaborate. And I think that’s slowly but surely happening, which is super exciting. (Transition beep) 

Talia Franks: This is the episode where Martha finally sits the doctor down is like, we gotta talk. We need, we need to have a conversation. 

Lucia Kelly: I love that moment so much. It’s so great. (Transition beep) 

Talia Franks: So much of Donna is internal to herself. She has like a whole I feel like her development and her journey feels external to her 

Lark Malakai Grey: mm-hmm 

Talia Franks: and feel, or not external, but feels external to the doctor and feels internal to her in a way. That Rose wasn’t and I feel like it is that sort of refreshing palette cleanser. That Lucia was saying. 

Lark Malakai Grey: Totally. I mean, Donna was an adult when she joined the Doctor, whereas rose went from her mother to the Doctor. So there is no Rose outside of the doctor, cuz she’s literally a child still no offense 19 year olds. (Lucia laughsq) But like she said, incredibly impressionable there was never, she never had the opportunity to, to do that. (Transition beep) 

Lucia Kelly: The doctor never actually makes the time to make his argument. He’s got this arrogance and assumption that people will just listen to him and he won’t have to do that. So he doesn’t bother, 

Talia Franks: he has the audacity of a white man 

Lucia Kelly: Mm-hmm and 90% of the time, we don’t notice that because we’re conditioned to not notice that right? But it’s just really bloody obvious when he is doing it to a woman in power. 

Talia Franks: Mm-hmm

Amanda-Rae Prescott: (Transition beep) It’s weird for me going back to this episode too. Cause like I tend to watch the later ones your season when she’s more confident, true of herself. So yeah, I have to think about that as well. (Transition beep) 

Talia Franks: So you mean, it’s not just an episode about jumping between kink cars? (Lucia and Talia laugh)
